Business Development Manager

The Job Role
We are looking for an energetic and target driven Business Development Manager who can drive company growth by managing all new business sales activity, as well as managing a variety of other business activities.
Key elements of the role that should excite you:
- Develop a full understanding of our products and services
- Build and manage your own pipeline of ‘B2B’ sales prospects. This requires an element of cold calling, research and data gathering tasks.
- Have a ‘relationship sales’ approach, communicating with prospects on a variety of levels from Project Manager up to CEO/Board level
- Deliver presentations and demonstrations both in person and online, understanding client requirements and writing proposals for a range of prospects from professional event organisers, to Associations, governmental and education organisations.
- Manage the entire sales process using our in-house CRM system
- Manage the sales budget ensuring sales targets are met
- National and International travel to industry trade shows to represent the company
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will be an experienced and target driven ‘B2B’ sales professional, ideally within the ‘software as a service’ or meetings/events sector. The role is focussed on generating new business opportunities so a proven sales record is essential, using exceptional sales skills with successful results.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in the events industry
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a ‘B2B’ sales based role
- Experience in either a ‘software as a service’ or events/meetings based sales position
- Proven experience in managing the sales pipeline to generate revenue and growth through prospecting, relationship building and effective closing of business opportunities
- Experience in tender writing and delivering complex proposal documents and presentations at management level
- Comfortable to travel independently and represent the company at client sales meetings, presentations and trade shows
- Methodical and thorough approach to work, ensuring accuracy at all times, especially regarding tender writing and the issuing of proposal documents.
- Exceptional communication skills, confident communicating to individuals from system user to CEO level.
- Fully IT literate
Desired Skills and Experience:
- A sales based track record within the event technology industry
- Experience in designing and managing CRM systems and related processes
- Ability to speak more than one language
- Driving license
